Steph's Spring Newsletter....and a little XXX
First off, apologies to those of you who asked what on earth happened to my newsletters. I know I let them slip for a while (five months?? Ooops). I think somewhere between watching my sister's three year old son ski for the first time, and the fantabulous monsoon weather we've had in the city this winter I must have gotten distracted. In any case, Spring has arrived and we've got some catching up to do, so here's the first of probably several updates....
For those of you who remember my old days at theglobe.com, I'm very proud to announce that the media division has launched a brand new magazine called Now Playing Magazine. What started out as a monthly insert in our popular Computer Games Magazine (yup... we bought a few games properties back in the day, and believe it or not... I'm still a geek) has now materialized as a full fledged pop culture entertainment magazine focusing on movies, music, games, comics etc for the real buffs out there. The first issue features up and comer XXX:State of the Union's Sunny Mabrey and the now infamous John Heder from Napoleon Dynamite. And as of today it's out on newsstands nationwide! If you happen to be going to a Barnes & Noble or a Borders (or any other newsstand or bookstore) take a peek, or go online. (http://www.nowplayingmag.com/).
And yes...there's a launch party, so mark your calendar!
Next Tuesday April 19th, from 6-8pm, we'll be hosting a party at Gypsy Tea (33 W. 24th Street ). Sunny Mabrey will be attending, and hopefully too Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell, who will be featured on the cover of the second issue. Kristen is also co-starring in the comedy 50 Pills, the first feature film that Palm-Star Entertainment (the film production company I co-founded last year) has just completed. Whatdayaknow? Having access to a film production company and a movie magazine is starting to come in handy ;-)
