November 2004 NewsLetter

Happy November to all!

Been a while since my last newsletter so I'm squeezing in a quick update before everyone rushes off for Thanksgiving. A few new noteworthy things are going on. First off I'm pleased to say that my first short film "Wholey Moses" got picked up by HBO Latin America and will be airing a number of times pan-continental beginning November 20th through mid-December. Please check out the website (www.wholeymoses.com select "showdates") for detailed info. On a bigger note I'm excited to announce that my business partner, Kevin Frakes, and I founded our new production/film finance company Palm-Star Entertainment this spring and are off to a running start. The company will be exclusively focusing on independent low budget films in the $1MM to $15MM range (up to 50% of budget) and is currently being capitalized with $35MM. Already our first co-produced feature "Fifty Pills" is in the can and generating a great buzz(see Hollywood Reporter below) and I'm very excited to say that we have added several new members to the board including Robert Greenhut (producer of all Woody Allen films), as well as studio execs Jeffrey Korchek (Universal) and James Dowaliby (Paramount). All in all it's been a busy fall and we hope to have a great kick off at Sundance 2005.

Bell, Pucci, Hensley on indie 'Pills'
"Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell, Lou Taylor Pucci and John Hensley will star in "Fifty Pills" for first-time director Theo Avgerinos and Coalition Film.

The coalition is the newly formed independent production and sales company founded by writer-producer Matthew Perniciaro.

The film follows college student Darren Giles (Pucci) who, after losing his scholarship, must sell 50 Ecstasy pills in a day in order to make his tuition payment so that he can stay with his girlfriend (Bell). Hensley plays Pucci's metrosexual roommate who supplies the drugs.

Also joining the cast are Nora Zehetner ("Everwood"), Eddie Kaye Thomas ("American Pie"), Monica Keena ("Freddy vs. Jason"), Daniel Spink ("American Pie"), Donnell Rawlings ("Chappelle's Show") and Rachel Boston ("American Dreams").

Along with Coalition and Perniciaro, the film is being produced in conjunction with Palm Star Entertainment, which is co-financing, and producers Kevin Mann and Jake Demaray.

Perniciaro recently co-wrote and was a producer on "Standing Still," starring Mena Suvari, James Van Der Beek and Colin Hanks, for Insomnia Entertainment. He is repped by Untitled Entertainment and Sloss Law.

Bell, who also appeared in "Spartan," is repped by manager Emily Gerson Saines and attorney Ira Schreck.
